We’ve been studying the Xamarin App market for sometime and have worked with some really cool and hip brands and we wanted to see why this platform seems to be getting more traction than the other cross platform technologies in the mobile market. We can see from a development perspective that Xamarin makes logical sense for code updates when releasing new updates of your App.
The key area for our clients we have found is two fold one, the client can update their code allot quicker across two platforms using 1.5 developers. We say 1.5 as initially you write in one base code however the UI/UX end will need to be developed from a dedicated UI/UX person who actually specialises in either native platforms which generally can take up half the time for this area pending the complexity of the project.
As opposed to pure native iOS and Android environments which is essentially across two developers one for iOS and one for Android environments. But two, the code potentially can slightly be developed in a shorter time frame by code sharing, again this is dependent on the project complexity and what development approach our developers take, so either using a lower cost effective route to market with limited UI/UX design capabilities under Xamarin forms or taking a more customized (lengthier approach) utilising highly advanced UI/UX design and development skill sets.
We as an agency like to sit on the fence as we strongly believe Xamarin and native app development has its own place in the market for the right projects and clients. Whats right for one client may not be right for another which is why we take a strong consultative approach of selecting what is right for the client and project and develop appropriately.
If you have a question on Native or Xamarin App development then please get in-touch and we would be delighted to share our experiences with you.
